hi, after reading miltech's post i was wondering if any of you clever dudes could offer a suggeston....

once i had a hotmail account ('cos i was abroad) and now i haven't... only when someone sends Email to my normal account (via my ISP) the Email is also sent to the old hotmail address, (which ain't there no more!) the sender then gets a message saying that the mailbox is unavailable and the message is undeliverable. which means that the sender either re-sends the Email or rings me to see if i got it!! (seems a little counter productive)

can anyone explain why Emails are being directed to another address?

or how i can rectify this?

or who can give me answers?

or suggest a new ISP (this on'e crap anyway!!!!!!)

just a thought, regards, steve.

Hotmail address's have to be logged into at least every 30 days or they get deleted. At least thats how I understand it! Not sure this helps but Ive had had my account deleted in the past because of this...

Not my specialist subject, but I seem to remember that when setting up a new account, Hotmail offers you the chance to view your existing POP3 accounts through the Hotmail account.

It is likely that you did this when setting up your Hotmail, as you wanted to keep in touch with your existing mail when travelling.

What could have happened is that Hotmail then amended your POP3 account to copy your hotmail account with each new mail. This copy request is still active, but the Hotmail address is now defunct.

You should be able to delete this action from your POP3 account.

You have auto forwarding set up on your main account, which zips a copy to now defunct hotmail. Depending on what browser you use, you should be able to find the facility and turn it off. Failing that a call to your provider should get you the help you need.
