Nominations now for Scuttlebutt Personality of the Year

oldsaltoz for his infinite patience in repeating advice and information. how about coming up with a short list andthen voting .

seriously.....( /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif) I think we ought to club together and take a table at these inaugraul marine awards ceremony things.... link here

given the vast cost involved it wold clearrly be best if those representing the forum were articulate, larger than life figures and I would suggest that we invite the following 10 people (in no particular order.....)

Jimi
Gludy
GC1
tcm
Lakesailor
Powerskipper (althoug possible bias re Sealine)
Talbot
Das Boot
KevB
Claymore

As a panel they might just have a thing or two to say about the award recipients too................

I reckon 50p per forumite will purchase the necessary tickets and am happy to contribute.

Well?

"Scuttlebutt Personality"

Surely this is oxymoronic? If we had personalities, we wouldn't be browsing the internet and talking to complete strangers on forums. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

In terms of most of your criteria, tcm walks away with maximum points but, as I suspect he is his own employer and can afford to waste an unlimited amount of his own time, he is disqualified for cheating.

Erm ... is'nt advice more PBO? Scuttlebutt is less of an advicey forum but more of a chatty place... so the advice qualities would be more PBO related than Buttmeisterish?

True - depends what you feel is a valuable contribution to the forum. For me, while the humor is a great when I'm bashing my head against the office wall, the advice is what I find most interesting and valuable. At that level, I feel that Oldsaltoz is always worth reading, though he isn't alone in that respect.

Naturally, if it was restricted to humor, then your good self with a seemingly endless supply of fishy one-liners would be at the top /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Regards, Jeff.

I was going to nominate Becky purely for her thoughtfulness in coming up with the idea in the first place but then I remembered she's a dentist and spends her working life causing intense pain and suffering and then charging huge sums of money for the priviledge.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

How about a committee of the 'Usual Suspects', (or as many of them as can make it) choosing from the names so far mentioned while in Cherbourg this coming weekend?

Can suggest/choose a prize or equivalent as well! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What do you others think?
