I've been saving this up for ages!. Never having been a racing type, dinghy or otherwise, can anyone explain to me why dinghy race club boats insist on using air-horns to signal whatever it is to their racers, completely destroying a quiet afternoon. Is there no other method by which they can tell they are over the finishing line or whatever, like using their eyes?. Chichester Harbour has more than its fair share of dinghy racers and at times its like a Dutch football match out there. I would have thought that perhaps the first 3 'past the post' would be all that is required, but of late, it seems to go on forever on race days. And the season has barely started!. Anyone got any ideas?. (Not earplugs please - I've tried them).
