I have no battery power to Onam generator on my Targa 47.
The rocker switch on the panel in the salon won't stay on a light up green to bring the power on.
I have then traced back to the battery link box in the engine bay and found the generator master power switch which is
A small black knob which pulls up , but like the saloon this switch will not operate or stay on.

Any thoughts greatly received

Cheers

You can pull the breaker in manually, you may have to take the cover off, if battery is flat this may be the cause as it needs power to pull the coil in, does genny have a mains charger? If so switch it on and try again from panel.

Thanks Paul

The generator doesn't have its own battery or charger but would appear to take a feed in the battery link box.
I did give the bow and stern thrusters a good work out yesterday as I seldom operate them for more than a few seconds and after heavy use the low battery warning came up on the evc display on helm. The warming display soon dispapeared after a run and shore power overnight and the six batteries which are only a year old all show good charge, but could I have caused a problem with low voltage drop ?

If the little battery master rocker switch on the main panel in the saloon sticks it causes the solenoid in the heavy duty box to become permanently energised and burns out the coil. Some times it also make the switch jam. If so then you need to unscrew the plastic ball from the end of the solenoid and pull the shaft with pliers. And get a new switch and solenoid.

Thanks aquatom, I have tried the pliers without success , marine electrician onboard this morning has confirmed power is
Present at switch so as you say a replacement is needed. The original manufacturer no longer make them. Who would you recommend for a replacement ?
