My wee Caprice has a hawse pipe, but no chain locker; at present I use a large deep plastic bowl mounted on a wooden frame to fit the fore peak. I should very much like to have a triangular bowl/waterproof container that would fit closer into the fore peak, possibly equilateral with approx. 18" sides (sorry not into foreign yet) Any ideas for an inexpensive solution would be appreciated.

To be strictly accurate that is not a hawse pipe!
A hawse pipe is the pipe through which the hawser or chain passes in the side or bulwark of a ship.

A more correct name may be a spurling pipe or navel pipe. The pipe through which the chain passes on its way to the chain locker. Alternatively perhaps simply chain pipe.

Got to get these things right you know :D

Can you not partly enclose the very front part of the bow with a ply bulk head and fit a loose bottom to the enclosed part for the chain to sit on.

Thats how mine is done.

You dont say if your boat is wood or GRP

I don't have any specific photos but the chain locker is enclosed by the triangular ply bulkhead you see in this picture. The top section ( vinyl covered and largely hidden by the lifebuoy) is removable to access the chain.
