As no one else wants to jump in. Lets go for a pub in Lacock, when they are filming Harry Potter overnight, as that might get a few Swmbo's and kids to come along?

Idiots guide to Lacock please? Date? And I will tell SWMBO that I will be out that night.

Providing SWMBO does not confiscate my motorcycle keys see you there! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Harry Potter filming meet, Lacock, 25th October

Lets try the Red Lion in Lacock High Street, which is close to the Abbey where the filming will be. As I understand it, filming will be happening on Thurs 25th October, so lets go with that date for now, and I'll update if information changes

Pub details and map here

http://www.ukpubfinder.com/pub/744

Parking may be difficult, as high street may be closed overnight, so may need to park outside the village. If the pub is inaccessible, then I'll make back up plans for a pub outside the village.

I can pm you my mobile, as we might be making alternative plans for venue. The vilage will be totally closed off, making it good for Harry Potter hunters, but less good for forum meets. If anyone is bringing kids, I'll post details of filming times etc as I get them, but we might want to meet outside the village. I'm going to ask the pub if we can reserve a table, but that is unlikely, so a pub outside the village, and ferry kids to and from village while they hunt the filming is probably an option. I know the area well, so can tell the kids where filming is most likely to be seen, and they should bring binoculars if available,

Apologies
Was looking forward to meeting everyone, but missus now tells me that I'm away for the half term week.. and II was soooo looking forward to some beers

Newby!

Hi all, just moved from the hinterland into the real world, (well, Amesbury!) Looking to try and get to the meet. If I can I'll be driving there and back on the night so may be able to help with transport if close to the route (from AA auto route). Would anyone be keen?

Is anyone planning on bringing kids? I think we might need to locate to pub outside the village as it's likely to be very crowded. I'm planning on taking a trip over there tomorrow to suss things out and ask the pub in the high street, but I think I know what the answer will be

OK, will do a full recon tomorrow, and find out what is likely to be happening. There is a very good pub up the hill out of Lacock, but will mean kids on their own in village watching the action. Will pm you tomorrow when I have more news.

Look in on tuesday before commmitting to meet, as main streets are closed off, but apparently filming times are being posted on notes in village. Parking will be bad, but they are used to that, so NT carpark will be fine I hope. Pub up hill won't be used by film hunters as it's not close enough, so we can use that as base with enough space to take us, and I can tell kids where to go to see what is going on.

Right, been to Lacock today to suss things out. Checked with National Trust, and their huge carpark will be open.

Best way to carpark avoiding closed roads is very straightforward.Follow brown NT signs for Lacock on main road (A350). WHen you come off A350 just follow the blue P parking signs. This takes you to NT carpark on outside of village.

From the carpark entrance, cross road and take path through trees and onto road for a short walk into the village.

The Red Lion is on the left. I called in there and they have confirmed they will be open and there will be pedestrian access (they aren't on one of closed roads).

Couldn't get any details of fiming schedule.

So see everyone in the Red Lion on Thurs at 8pm
