Any up to date info on Newport for drying out a long keeler against the wall,? I wan to combine an overnight with a quick clean and polish of my prop. What is the bottom like by the wall? not too soft mud to walk on and roughly how much either side of HW would i get on/off at 1.4M draft?

Anyone tried Ryde recently after the spring dredging?

From memory, it's a a bit muddy - bring your wellies, but not sink in muddy, As for depth, you should be fine but as a confirmed coward, I always try to take a rising tide up the Medina, even with 1m or less draft.

From the website:
High water, Spring tides give an average of 2.5m depth in the approach channel and at the visitors’ pontoons, but this may increase depending on weather conditions. The Neap high tide depth is 1.8m

Google Street View gives a fairly good indication of what it was like 4 years ago.
You can dry out at the Town Quay in Cowes if arranged with the Harbour Master office.

Thanks to the advice from the forum, I visited Newport, dried out and did a scrub and propellor clean! An excellent place, helpful harbour master, perfectly adequate showers, a fairly firm bottom to work on, great pub opposite, tides not as difficult as I thought, arrived near HW and left about HW-2.5. The pontoons for bilge keel boats have been dredged and have a bit more water. Even better it cost £20 for a 24 hour stay whereas I had been quoted £280 for a mid-season scrub elsewhere!
