@wallacebob Vetus engine not volvo, Dry inside with no smell, Keels have been refitted and are dry, Kemps are making new sails (slab reefing) and stackpack. I was always going to have new sails made, the current ones look original and Kemps do zero % finance and are fab to deal with, I'm making new cushions having bought a sewing machine for £20, I've stripped out the wiring and am rewiring her myself. Boat cost me £2000. So, more of a labour of love

Sometime around early 1975 the window arrangement changed to accommodate the rigs inner shrouds along with an update to the port holes and the inner coaming of the cockpit seats having a declined angle added to make more comfy.

Think it was the surveyor who used to do the yearly insurance survey on my father's 1971 example, which was spade rudder, single round porthole told me this.

Main cabin windows pre 75 are larger and sit in the middle of the coach roof side where as boats post 75 the windows got smaller and were shunted aft down the coach roof side away from the inner shroud attachment.

I've seen three different rudder variants over the years and the keels got completely redesigned around 75 /76 from working on a few. This in no small part to alleviate the keels splay.

Stand in front of a centaur looking aft and you'll see what I describe as a horses knee (two angles, very awkward-looking) when looking at the intersection between stub and keel on pre 75 boats

Post 75 boats the keels and stub are one angle, one angle of attack if you will.

Early Centaurs, (68-74) had seven keel bolts spaced inboard and outboard along the keels profile with the fwd half of each keel being a hollow void and with a lot fatter profile.

Post 76 boats had a much finer profile (profile) with 9 bolts inline and no casting voids.

Earlier Centaurs upto 1970 had alot of tufnul hardware on deck and a good few early ones I've seen and worked on had timber companionway hatches.

Interestingly having measured a few Centaurs across the top of the transom I've yet to find any two boats that measure the same, having been made in a split mould may have lead to irregularities. Hope that helps.

Cheers

Interesting Gareth, thanks for the update. I guess there a lot of variations within Centaurs. Looks like a nice boat but hard work, good luck with it all!

Wish all best and hope you get her back to full glory. They may not be fastest boats out there - but they are sturdy and safe ...

pal of mine had a Centaur and our two boats were heading back to home berths after party in Yarmouth IoW ..... I took photos of him ...

That was in 2005 ..... blimey !! That's 18yrs ago.

The Party was one I organised for this Forum in fact ... back then and before ... the forums suffered hacking ... and I was friendly with the lead moderator and compiler of YBW forums.
A big BBQ in Yarmouth, few items donated by myself and YBW as Raffle prizes ... a booze up in the pub after etc.
