newbie needs help

hi i just joined i have a dejon14 its my first boat. and i need to replace the transom ive cut away the f/glass inside the boat taken out all the rotten wood made a template and cut the ply to shape but really now im lost as i have to cut it to get it in whats the best way to keep it strong
