New Years Eve Party - Trafalgar Theme

Friends (a married couple) are going to a New Years Eve party with a Trafalgar theme. They don't want to go as Nelson and Lady Hamilton (and the "what about going as Nelson's Column" has been done to death).

So I looking for suggestions from you, on their behalf, as to what their costumes could be to make them look really cool at this party.
