New Years Eve on the east coast

This might sound early to be thinking about plans over xmas - but we've just been invited to a New Years Eve party (!) and so I'm thinking of doing NYE on board instead - where best for firework watching and anchoring? Not too far from the Crouch? Any ideas?

I'm with everyone here; we have done the last 3 New Year's at Shotley; which has been excellent. Harwich fireworks are very very good and you will have prime viewing.

Just be careful of some of the interlopers particularly if they have a large Whisky at hand.....................

We were looking at Harty or just South Deep

Last New Year a J133 took the inshore passage around Margate Sand came to grief trying to get through the Swatchway that goes to the North off Reculver - done it reverse but with a very much limited draft.

Can someone let us know the score for New Years Eve at Shotley as we would like to go but don't want to be out of sync.
Is it food and drink in The Shipwreck? - book ahead?
Any get togethers before/afterwards?
Any musical interludes (official at the Shipwreck or otherwise)?
Apart from stocking up on booze and booking a berth, anything else we should remember to do?

Duncan, there is an organised 'do' at the Shipwreck.. Tickets are a fiver a head... We've got tickets... as have the FCs and the CPDs, so I think that's the plan this year

we will be coming from the crouch, as long as the weather is ok, very much looking forward to it.

us too- when are you going? We might be able to go up the night before, otherwise it'll be a 7.30ish depature on the 31st. very much weather dependant, have to be back at work on the 2nd.
