NYE on board last night. Thought we'd have roast chicken and roast veg.
Slight problem, by 8:30 , its so cold outside that the gas pressure drops, so oven isnt too hot!
Never mind, the champers was cold, finished the bottle so moved on to the next while we awaited the oven (slowing down as we watched). Had visions of standing over the gas bottle with a fan heater!
Never mind.... altho delayed was excellent. preceded by smoked salmon blinis and lashings of champers.
And so to bed.
Morning dawned bl**dy cold, ice everywhere, but its gotta be done.
Covers off , engines warmed up and we're off.
Engines pulling full revs in the cold air and clean air ingested at just shy of the magic 40 kts... ever stood in a blast freezer?
No photos i'm afraid coz hands frozen in the NE wind. Sea fairly calm until we reach the Heads, then a bit of swell. However by this time SWMBO has turned blue and fearingfor my ears we turned back.
Back to berth and hopped over the next door for reviving Hot Toddys. Didn't see anyone else out.
Now back home in front of a roaring log fire.
Hope we all get a better summer this year.
