Hi

I am a 1995 chaparral signature 31 owner and am looking to upgrade in size and wanted to ask your opinion on the best open cruiser with the best cockpit (outdoor) area as not really interested in having space inside.
Ideally should not go over 45 ft. I live in Malta

Regards

Mark

Do you mean you want a day boat, or you still want to sleep/stay on it?

I ask because there are some boats even at that size which have no accommodation at all. As an example, how about one of these with twin outboards and a Seakeeper 3DC Gyro. Introductory price seems very keen, and don't dismiss outboards as modern ones are very efficient and servicing costs are way lower than diesel/sterndrive set-up.

Did not want to write anything else in case I got banned :)
No but seriously -Med -large open -vast cockpit -sun pad -access to sea -ticks a lot of boxes
Older 38's can be good value too .
From new to 20 odd y old budget wise ( which we don,t know )

Worth a look at a Sealine SC35 where there's a good combination of outdoor space with the roof open and indoor space.

I'm biased, but the main reason I bought a Cranchi Smeraldo 37 was because of it's massive cockpit (for it's size), but still has plenty of space down below.

Ideal boat for the Med, too.

Hi thanks to all for your Input, an ideal boat is the Sunseeker 43 superhawk as the outside seating is amazing however 2nd prices are still too high, a compromise might be a 2002 sunseeker 40 with twin yanmar (90K)or a cranchi (2006)endurance 41 (115K) ,with Volvo d6, what are your views

Old VP outdrives -are you sure that's a sensible buy?
Have a look Baia zero ,and Pershing 37 -CAT powered on shafts .
SuperH 43 has a narrow beam ( to cross compensate for low power ) compared to Italien shaft drive stuff of a similar genre. So I,am struggling to get the "amazing " cockpit seating -too narrow ?

Cranchi E41 is a good boat

Funny you should say that but there's a new series of "Posh Pawn" on the Telly. Anyhow, the episode this week featured a Brit bloke who was trying to flog a mint E41 for €100k (based in Ibiza) so that he could buy a new Fairline (;)). Anyhow they couldn't find a buyer for it but a quick search found the boat currently on brokerage see http://www.theyachtmarket.com/boats_for_sale/1238793/. I'm half tempted myself but I want a two cabin boat. Anyhow if you just need an occasional overnighter it would make a great boat for day trips out to the Blue Lagoon.
