New Toy - Squadron 58

They are pretty similar - just had a look.

Princess always do the two sofa's opposite each other thing which I like, and Fairline seem to allergic to such a good idea ... still to this day!

Are you sure about that? I've been pondering Princesses between 50 and 60 feet and all those I've looked at so far have U shaped seating, which I prefer + galley down below.

My P61 has U shaped sofa starboard, two seater opposite, go ahead a bit and galley is down 2 steps on starboard side. Opposite galley is "C" shaped dining seats.

Yep, jrudge is definitely correct, all the current and recent Princess flybridges have saloon seating on opposite sides of the boat, it's very sociable. Main sofa is commonly u-shaped but there is always opposite seating, either another small sofa or chairs. For example this is the P61:

What vintage is that then, please? My budget dictates up to about 2009 as far as the boat is concerned ... it's the budget for buying the berth that's got me worried!

Mine is a 2004 model.

I'd hoped to get up to about 2008/9 but think this might be a bit ambitious for my budget ... both Princess and Fairline 2005 would be OK ... I really want a flybridge! A p/ex deal would be good so maybe I should check Boats.co.uk. The berth may be a problem where I am at the moment but I haven't enquired after a 16/17 metre berth yet. I currently have a 12m for which I paid €25k which equates to €800+ per year = very cheap but the buggers won't do swaps for a larger one! I'd have to sell the one then buy the other. I've had 2 lease berths before but I'd rather not! I'm off to Spain next week to look at a couple of boats.

A 12m berth is exactly what I'm looking for! Where in the SoF are you? (If I'm not being too personal)

Just catching up with the thread as been rather busy for last coupler of weeks.

1st Contrats J on a great boat its looks really nice, I have seen her before and its a particularly rememberable name compared to so many.
2nd Only just heard about the Fairline 50th and its a shame as I don't get to Mallorca until late June as we are in Ibiza for most of June.

One question for the group would there be a use of having a Mallorca Thread where we could let others know where we will be when over as there are quite a few of us there in the summer moving about and its always great to have a meet up either in the marina bar or at anchor, just a thought?

I think that is a great idea. I suggested a mallorca Facebook group within the boating group created by someone on here for that reason as FB is so much simpler to use on the go and you can easily post pics etc which are a pain on the forum! However they were not keen.

We could do a thread or just set up a group YBW Mallorca Facebook for example and those in Mallorca ( or the area generally - Ibiza / Menorca )join it.

Threads of " I am Here" will probably annoy those who are not!

I might set up a new thread asking. It would be so nice to meet forumites whilst out there.

Jeremy, Facebook would work well I think. A few of you could publicize it using links in your footers.

+1 for the forum thread, -1 for the facebook thing but only because (as my kids tell me) I am a dinosaur and I don't do facebook

N, if you want 'pop over' and to join the flotilla in Soller then I have it on good authority that Fairline Ibiza (or any of the other Baldrick FL dealers) will be happy to arrange a Soller berth for you. Let me know if you ant contact details.

Lovely boat and most importantly but often forgotten in todays world a fantastic sea boat, one thing - Port side window, not worth fixing do a proper job with sikaflex (in black) it shut and the no leaks :-)

I couldn't disagree more.
In the Med, breathing proper fresh air inside a boat (rather than A/C forced air) whenever possible is imho a big plus.
Almost completely lost in modern boats with large glued glasses btw, which is a shame. :ambivalence:

Almost funny: I mentioned earlier in this thread that i haven't yet had a failed eletric window on my boat. Well, I have one now...

When i operate the switch, the only thing moving is the needle in the ammeter.

So, J, if you do find out something, please share.

N, I'm popping over from antibes (300nm each way). You're just around the corner in Ibiza! Fairline have got me a berth in soller for the Saturday night.
