New Toy - Squadron 58

Moving to Marina De Mallorca at the weekend - had a berth in Club De Mar but it was on the outside. We had a blow last week on Wednesday and Thursday and no way was I leaving it there!

Well done J. We both had our boats in CD, we both bought 2004 boats and they were both based in Alducia. Spooky!

Are you coming back to Cala D'Or?

Not sure.

My ex wifes boat ( the S65) is there so probably best avoided for a little while!

I like Cala Dor but it is a way from the airport and is less "authentic" than Palma.

The flip side is the people are nice and you have the best Cala's on the Island within about £2 of diesel !

So who knows. I may well winter there if Yan does a decent deal!

I have to bring the boat up shortly as Boats.co.uk are selling me some bits!

How is your new boat? Hope you get your mooring spot back soon. They finished late last year .... you would think they would learn!

Jeremy

Great news Jeremy. That is an awesome boat - I loved it so much I bought 2 and did 1000+hours. The one you've boat is, as discussed prev, a good un imho. I have seen it in alcudiamar over many years

As k says, check if you access the elec window (I never actually did it) by removing an outer grp panel and refixing it with white polyurethane. Window has a pull/push cable mechanism - work of the devil. I disabled power to mine and exercised it once a year. Later boats had one not 3 electric windows

Utility fridge is a narrow special - you cant put a 60cm domestic in there without surgery. It's a catalogue dometic item.

Can't help re tender. If helps (long shot) widen your market I'm in Malloca for month of june so I could take it to SofF for you on my flybridge. Then you can get to UK for maybe 600£ with Riviera transport (jimmy builder mates). Then Essex can sell it. They sold the tenders off my brother's new boat, in Essex, and they started out life in Palma. But is lot of hassle. What price will you take? (PM if prefer) so I can ask SofF people.

I'll be in Soller/Pollenca btw, possibly not palma or Cala D'or

Let me know if you need other Fairline spares type stuff.

Great purchase though - many congratulations and I hope you + kids have a lot of fun on board

For cabin lining, take a look at the current Fairline material tekwall inset flare (a light beige with a black thread). Very nice. I have a roll you can have FOC if you want. 20metres long maybe - not sure.
In hurry now but could find you a link later to the maker's website (made in USA)

John

Thanks.

Are you joining the Fairline 50th Anniversary in Soller?

I will check out the fabric you mentioned, a roll would be great thanks.

The S65 had one window and that used to go wrong, so going down to 1 seems a wise move. It does not really bother me if it never works ... it was a surprise to find the electric windows in the first place and sure as they will gum up with time.

Re the tender thanks for the offer, but I dont think it would be worth the transport cost. Value - not a lot £1500 or less I suspect - which is quite a lot of tender for the money, sadly i just happen to want something faster without a prop! Avon Jet Ribs seem to sell of £4k and it must be worth less than that!

That's the plan/intention. Is quite a big schlepp for me (300nm) and I expect most of the other boats will be Balearic locals. You?

I plan to put Match in Pollenca on the 27/28 May weekend and bring her back to France 17/18 June. Fairline/Russell will very kindly arrange berthing for me. Plan id for Saturday night of the actual 50th anniversary in Soller port.

You? (sorry thread drift - just give a brief answer and then we can switch to email or a new thread)

Trying, but I have my kids that weekend and mum cant swap - so just thinking of logistics of London - Palma - Dash to Soller. Dash Back. Palma to London .

Love to go but it is a bit of a stressful weekend to be honest!

Considering leaving the boat in Soller but even that has its issues!

First world problems!

Congratulations on the new boat.

It looks like there is plenty of technical and practical support on the forum so any settling in jobs will hopefully prove straightforward enough. I actually thought how good it looked inside for all your doom mongering :)

Have fun.

Henry :)

I was hoping to be at the Fairline 50th under my own steam but only a miracle would make that happen. So if anyone wants any crew for a couple of nights, please let me know! I'm in Ibiza the following week so I promise I won't be lingering about!

It is lovely apart from some linings but when on board you dont really notice.

I have an app called Magisto - it makes automated movies and it just sent me this.

Better than I could ever make!

Yes, great, thanks. Looking at your photo montage it is surprising how similar the SQ58 and the P61 are.
