Yes, if you mean Blake\'s Lavac...

Lavac toilets are extremely reliable, because there's very little to go wrong. The common Jabsco PAR toilet is also good value, and is fairly reliable as long as it's treated well.

But buy the very best quality hose you can find.

toilet for sale

Simon I'm changing one of the toilets in my boat. It's a jabsco manual and was brand new with the boat in February 2004. I will sell for 50% of the current new price. It's probly only been used half a dozen times, is located in a crew cabin, and pretty much brand new, perfect working order. It's the compact size one (check - you might want the bigger one) item 29090 2000 in this page http://www.jabscoshop.co.uk/category.asp?sid=&ls=Rule+Marine+Pro&id=24

Only catch is, I will be doing the change last weekend in Feb, as the boat is in France and no time before then. Dunno if that timing suits you. I already have the new toilet in my garage ready to go. I will include for free some of the white sanitary hose and a syphon breaker bend, in the 1 inch diameter, on the flushing side. I will also have 3m of 1.5inch dia flush hose, but likely I'm gonna want to chuck that in the skip pronto, not carry it back on the plane

You can collect it from Milton Keynes, Lancashire, or Antibes, maybe Manchester. Or I can post it I spose

I also have a motorised conversion unit, new in box, but it's 24v so mebbe no good. Item number 29200/0240 on the page above

Hi!

Lavac is the very best make you could fit IMHO, particularly if you are intending long term cruising. Sadly, the Jabsco 'type' are simply not up to this sort of hard use, and we, and several of our cruising friends can testify to this. Very modest, basic care of the Lavac will ensure that it will give you many years of fault free use.

Cheers

[/ QUOTE ]Most people wouldn't choose plastic seacocks. Go for bronze. Your insurer might not be happy about nylon seacocks, either, so do check the small print or ask a surveyor before fitting.

[/ QUOTE ]No good for me as I am 12V but I was looking at them in the chandlery yesterday and wondered....maybe someone here has some experience of them, are they worth having? Any fitting or reliability probs? What is the benefit?

Re: toilet for sale

There are better choices IMO than the Jabsco 29200 conversion, for the same money or even less. The 29200 is noisier than most and also draws a whopping 24a/flush...compared to 16 for most raw electric toilets, 10 for those designed to use pressurized flush water. Lifespan before repairs are needed seems to be a max of about 5 years.

With the current rate of exchange for the British pound vs the USD, you may want to investigate buying a new toilet from a US source...according to my currency calculator a toilet that sells here for $400USD would only run 214BP...no more than about 250 including shipping. In which case I would strongly recommend the Raritan SeaEra conversion (http://www.raritaneng.com/products/toilets/electric/sea_era_conversion_kit.html. The best prices I've seen are from these folks: http://www.boatfix.com/elec/rarseaera.asp

Peggy - thank you. We will give that some careful thought, it would be nice.
