New to forum but old boater

First time posting on this forum,as I think I’m looking for a new to me boat. I think I got hit with the stupid stick, as I already have a 58ft Vantare in Mexico. My skipper and I have been cruising there full time since 2015, Now I think I’m interested in doing the Loop and buying a 3-4 year boat. When I go somewhere, we don’t go quick, we like to stop and see what is around and meet the locals. In the past 14 years we have cruised from Sacramento to Bocas De Toro, Panama and now back up in Mexico. Like my Vantare which I can never find any information on, now I’m looking at a 48 Ocean Yacht..not the sport fisher. It appears they did not make many of them. Only 23 Vantares were made in the late 80s and while I have seen 2, I’ve never met an owner.

Wondering if this would be a good comfortable Loop boat ? Low enough for the bridges and shallow enough for the ditch ? Would the boat have the range required for some of the longer runs ? Anyone interested in the Vantares can look us up on like, we are the unique position of being not only the only registered boat with this name, but the only thing on the internet. Look up Delta Swizzler. The 48 Ocean looks like a lil swizzler. Hope to hear from any current or former owners.

Hi! Most people hereabouts are in the UK or Europe, and I for one have never seen an Ocean 48 - this type of sportfisher is popular in the US but not here I'm afraid, so unlikely to get any decent advice.... someone now prove me wrong

Nice boat. Try posting on Trawlerforum.com. Plenty of posters on there have done the Loop.

There is a Facebook group called America’s Great Loop Cruisers’ Association which is a good source of information from people who have done the loop, some of them several times.
