This from an old chap who works on a dockyard crane, his bosses wont fix his heater so he turned to me!!
He managed to loose the bearing out of his first pump then bought one for a D4, it was smoking badly and I advised that it might be the wrong pump.
Clearly I have him well trained, Skipper Stu will like it David wont?

Dear 8657peter,

Hi Peter, thankyou,I did get both messages, and the problem is for sure excess fuel, the model in this old crane is a D1,but being an old mechie engineer myself,I think you will be proud of me!What I"ve done is put a kink in the pump to heater feed, thereby cutting down the supply rate, and after several attempts am nearly there on supply rate.
I hope to be able to put one my airstone control taps/valves from my pond, and fit this in line so that I can "tweak"the supply to the heater to perfection. At the moment,no smoke, and slightly down on heat, and shuts down after about 3-4mins,but I think it needs an atom more fuel, but I ain"t freezing now,so bless you for all your help.,I sincerely wish you and yours a Happy Christmas, and all the best for the coming year, cheers friend,Danny.

Go on, do the decent thing and get Danny the proper pump for Christmas - he'll need it soon enough.

Rob.

P.S. New policy - only buy presents that people actually want.
