Well, they ARE waterproof!

I suppose you mean the latest ones that are designed specifically for yachties. They do not seem to be too expensive so maybe I'll try 'em

I bought some Goretex bootliners from a hunting shop in France and they work well,w/proof and none sweaty but not suitable for walking long distances as they ruck up.Ideal for sailing and standing around in ditches.
They cost an arm and a leg so they should have thrown in some gloves as well!

Your post indicates that you get your feet wet when sailing....
Is this common amongst cruisers in your area - I noticed when we sailed together that you and the penshun czar both brought rather natty waterproofs with all sorts of designer labels on them as well
Am I missing something?

They do work - but I agree that they are too hard to walk any distance in. Fine for the boat.
