I heard that someone I couldn't possible name - has found a new cure for sea sickness - namely Pot - the effects were almost instanateous when the ill person smoked a weak j....t in a rough sea. This person is always badly seasick, and the change was quite remarkable. It was repeated next day as a precaution, again with perfect results, with the taker actually cooking the bacon butties.

No idea what its like personally as I have never even tried it and would'nt have a clue as to how to get hold of it antway!

How about someone trying this out, and report their results.

Hi Chris (pun intended).

It does have anti-emetic properties and is being investigated as a counter to the nausea that occurs as a side effect of, for example, cytotoxic drugs. It used to be given in Victorian times as a treatment for morning sickness.

Don't think it'd do much for my navigational abilities though.

I wouldn't like to rattle their cage about this one. Who wants to be the nit taking them to the High Court to get your boat back because of one jazz woodbine?

As far as I am aware they only take your boat away if you're smuggling a substantial quantity, in which case you are indeed in deep doodoo. I really don't think HM C&E make it their business to bust the casual waterborne user - that's the polis's job, and they don't generally find it worth their while any more.

Of course, it could be a great revenue raiser for HM gov if they get into the habit of busting a bunch of partying gin palaces every weekend and confiscating the boats.

Better stop this train of thought right now in case they're watching . . .

What do I mean, in case? Of course they're watching. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean the universe isn't out to get you!

I know someone who smokes it the evening before- after the next days passage plan has been done- and they swear the slight residual effect keeps the sickness away the next day.Sounds good to me- the only thing I've found works for me is those patches you stick behind your ear- and they make me high as a kite and dry mouthed too.

Do you think it could help me? I've never been seasick but often feel a little bit disorientated after coming ashore?
