Trying to decide where to buy a new genoa from and have come across www.tele-sails.com.
I've bought sails from Kemps the parent company and have been very pleased with them. Has anyone out there had any experiences of tele-sails?

Thanks

No, but I second the recommendation of Kemps.

Any other company would have got the hump with the amount of questions I asked them before purchasing my new genny, I will definately return for my main and future sails.

I would have used telesails, but I do not have a standard size rig apparently, damn home completed boats /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

We bought a new mainsail and furling genoa from Telesales this summer & are very impressed.

We cocked up measuring the tack angle on the mainsail and Rob Kemp phoned us several times to check the measurements with us. We phoned him twice to change the spec slightly and he was never less than helpful and polite.

The material appears to be the equivelent of what we were quoted eslewhere (at a grand more!) and the finish and attention to detail is very good.

I think that we undermeasured our genoa - we were very keen for it to not be too big and consequently it perhaps could be bigger - though saying that we've sailed with it rolled slightly for about 70% of the season so actually its been just right.

But, in a nutshell, no hesitation about recommending them & would definately use them again.

Windfall,

Thanks for your response.

On the telesails web site there is very little opportunity to specify detail, so I would be interested to know what the defaults are. For example what was the colour used for the u.v. strip?

Also did you order a cross-cut or tri-radial genoa?

Thanks,

Escapeii, you're welcome.

We chose a white uv strip - I don't recall being asked for it on the website but Kemp's phoned & emailed us to ask what colour we wanted. There were one or two other things that weren't clear from the web-site & they either called us or we called them.

Paul actually phoned them before we ordered as we were so nervous of getting our measurements right, again Rob Kemp was very helpful and more than willing to chat through the procedure.

We went for a cross cut genoa in the end - we thought long and hard about tri-radial and then decided that as it would probably spend a large part of its time partially furled (we sail with two small kids who don't like to lean too much, but we're working on it!) it wasn't worth the extra dosh. Also, as we weren't too confident about our measuring skills we didn't want to go too mad at the start.

But we did collect a lot of forum advice before we made the decision so if you do a search you'll find lots of pearls of wisdom.

Have fun.

Sharon

Re: not quite a New Sail but . . .

Had the sheet eye ripped out of my genoa recently. Kemps did a very good repair within a week - £50 minus a few pence.
