New purchase

I'm not getting any teal answers from the agent only that the owner wanted to do a complete refit.......think ill just give this one a miss, thanks guys, really appreciate your feedback.

He wanted to do a complete refit so he decided to replace about £30K worth of outdrives but leave the original, inevitably slightly tired and dated, upholstery that might have cost £5K to replace? Mmmokay.

Really appreciate your insight and I do agree with you.....

I might have just had a eureka moment !

A friend who i thought was selling his S38, isn’t, as its an S43 !!! I found out just calling to ask the differences !

His is a 2001 boat but he has spent some money on it doing some niceties however, it’s a much lower price than the boat in Scotland.

If of interest, send me a private message and i’ll connect you both. Nothing ventured and all that….

Ignoring for a moment that the Sealine in question isn't a flybridge boat...

Fight the flybridge tonneau off to sit up there all alone being blasted to death by the wind because it's so exposed while everyone else shelters in the cockpit? No thanks, I'll take a sports cruiser with its far more sheltered helm position (yes you can helm a flybridge boat inside, but I don't go boating to hide away inside) and all the crew/guests on one level together. When you stop you've got a far bigger cockpit with plenty of seating and lovely views rather than everyone sat in a row side by side like they're waiting for a bus, staring into the boat with the view behind them.

And if you can't manage to undo a zip to step onto the side deck, how are you going to manage on a flybridge boat where you have to do exactly the same thing if the aft canopy is up?

You are better off just ignoring Old Git….he is getting on a bit now and is easily confused……..he has a fly bridge boat so everyone should have one as in his world they are best :)

ke a look around any boat yard for every 10 boats on the hard with a leg missing there will be one with shaft issues , which is being repaired for far less than 5k.

😃😃😃 I'm very Interested......

I did notice the agent had a few problems with the canvas when I was viewing the V42, he actually broke one of the zips in front of me......oops.......it would be really great if I could possibly have a chat to the previous owner just to get a different perspective on the boat I'm flying over to view her next week sometime and will make a decision then.
Regards.

I have sent a PM

:)
Thank you so much for your feedback, I'm swayed towards the Sealine to be honest for a few reasons mainly because of the cockpit space and shafts rather than outdrives, I'm flying over to view her this week so hopefully I'll enjoy the experience 😃

Sealine S43 with outdrives a brief history .
Boat on our moorings for around 3 years and owned for around 4 ? years.
A beautiful and much loved boat, always serviced by authorised VP agent.
Then outdrive problems.
Two incidents total cost exceeding £25 K, do know it was more than that but the "militant outdrive defence league " tend to have trouble with the cost of preserving outdrives.
This proved to be the final straw and boat was sold, last seen being shrinkwrapped and on its way to Spain.
Boat was replaced by a nice Sealine F42.5 which of course is a Flybridge with ..................Shafts. :)

What would you like us to do withg this information? I could post up a story about a bloke who has trouble with a shaft drive boat, or someone who went from a flybridge to a sportscruiser - that wouldn't prove anything either.

Why do you find it so very difficult to understand that not everyone wants the same as you do, and that people tend to buy boats that suit their own needs rather than yours?

S 43 always has shafts🙄
I thought so so
Somewhere in the archives of my house is a mby article comparing the shaft drive and out drive on the S43 and S41. I saved it because it was probably the best comparison using almost identical boats. If I can find it I’ll post.

It is of course relevant and worth posting for those likely to be purchasing a boat in the future , and first hand knowlege is always useful, do share . :)

S43 was approximately 50k more at the time of manufacture over the leg version, but heavier boat due to the larger engines and the extended hull goes further under the bathing platform, the extra cost made then a rarer beast and to the untrained eye they appear to be identical.
Much more sea kindly than the leg version.

Something else that size and style came with outdrives S 42 or S41 ?

The S41 had outdrives and the S43 had shafts. Both superseded by the S42, which had outdrives or shafts as options. There was also an option to have a canopy instead of a hardtop on the S42, which meant acres of canvas!;)

Chris_d has just done exactly that (see above).

Will you now try to 'warn people off' shaft drive boats?
