Hi everyone,


My partner and I sail a Hanse 588 based out of Alcudiamar in Mallorca. Over the last few years we’ve logged around 20,000 nm between the Med and the Caribbean.





Were particularly interested in safety systems and onboard electronics, so I’m looking forward to learning from others’ experiences and sharing a few of ours too.

Nice to meet you. That's quite a boat. Probably bigger than most here sail, I suspect.

Just don't mention which kind of anchor you prefer and it'll be fine...

Maybe as a starter say which make of electronics and devices you have we are not a Hanse but from the Hanse yard as a sister brand so share many Hanse fitments which tend to be common across all Hanse sizes etc so back to uk via Kiel canal in 2015. We have raymarine kit but it’s now 10 years old and still working -only a replacement wind vane at masthead. Not keen on the Hanse fitted fridge though . The quick bowthruster keeps working. I guess safety equipment varies enormously though.
