New Marina Penzance

Ther's a new one planned for in the old Penlea quarry twix Mousehole and Newlyn. Should be good as a stopping off point for the Scillies especially for our rag & stick friends. Will give the local economy a long awaited boost also that is if it can get past planning. The is already local discent against the proposals. Perhaps someone can post some info. on the project. Dave.

Hmm, looks very good. I've been down in that area quite a bit, and certainly the area needs the jobs, and also the dirty great hole in the ground doesn't look very nice at the moment. The whole area around there is currently a bit of a blot on what is otherwise a beautiful landscape. As long as they plan carefully etc., I think it can only be good. Not sure what many people could find to complain about (though I'm sure they will)

There has been a new marina planned at Penzance as long as we have lived down here, 20 years now.
Still like the idea, but have little faith now.

There is too another marina development that is planned for Hayle, (opposite coast), same council and I suspect same planning problems. Again, an ongoing idea for years.

This plan was thrown out by the Penzance Town Council but I know the architects have revised it and sent it back in again for another go.

Apparently its on display in the Council offices and a public meeting has/will be held to gauge local feeling.

I hope they do go for it as it would be a good jump off for the Scillies but I am also sceptical if it will go eventually go ahead.

Its in the Cornishman this week. The revised plan is to have a lifting bridge to open every half hour.
