Looking for recommendations to replace our old, trusty-but-rusty 2l prestige heavy-bottomed/swifter-boiling whistling kettle - for gas stove. The current one is 7.5" / 19cm diameter & height. Suggestions welcome.

just make sure it whistles! I can never hear mine and may have to make some adjustments with a large hammer.

No need for anything fancy or expensive, try your local caravan accessories shop, they'll have something to fit the bill.

Splash out with an Alessi kettle I've had one of these for years, a real plus point is it has a very small footprint, so no problem getting it on the stove with the frying pan.

Mine is a Le Creuset. It has a nice, engineered whistle. Price is around £70. Tea and coffee taste better when brewed using quality products and keeps my crew happy as an added bonus.

I have had 2 or 3 of those simple stainless kettles - widely available. Slightly more upmarket, bigger 2.7L and a wider base for use with clamps available from Force 4 for a few £s more.
However like Skylark I also use a Le Creuset in a fetching shade of blue.

Camping stores keep a number of kettles. I dont particularly like the lightweight kettles, there are many heavy stainless steel kettles with a decent whistle.
