It's more than a shame. The New Inn was the only eating place for miles around this lovely unspoilt historic harbour. We ate there in July, and despite the staff's enthusiasm and evident ability, there seemed to be no expectation that they (or anyone else) would take the place on permanently. The absurd reason seems to be lack of parking. If that can be solved, I for one will be back every time I visit the island - by car or boat.

Thanks for posting those lovely pics (both the food and the scenery). Been there many times, last about 5 years ago just after I bought the Bavaria. Anchored at the entrance to the creek and rowed up on my own. In the good old days used to take the Eventide up the creek and anchor at lunchtime high tide for a walk up to the inn. By road you used to be able to park in a field further down the lane. Maybe that is no longer available. I introduced my granddaughter to prawns there but now she has graduated to lobster!. Fortunately she has not acquired a taste for Chablis yet - as a good uni student she is still OK with cheap Australian Sauvignon Blanc.

I have fond memories of sailing the centaur to Newtown and eating or drinking there a few times in my youth .Only slight alarm was when the seagull OB failed and tide kept us going out the creek once.

As soon as I have a cabin again, I'll return and anchor just to watch the abundant wildfowl.

I'll find time to visit the pub too, if it's open.

I'm hoping nobody informs me they aren't geese, because I've no idea how to edit Youtube. ?
