A new yacht harbour will be opening in July in Cadzand, The Netherlands, on the border with Belgium, halfway between Zeebrugge and Breskens. It will be small, 125 places, with full service pontoons and a brand new club house. http://www.yachtatcadzandbad.nl
I am looking forward to visiting and waiting to see how good the shelter will be in a blow from the NW and how the approach will be when the sea is less than smooth.

So does that mean you have to scrubb your tanks to get rid of all red residue... or are they being pragmatic towards the UK registered boats who can't buy white fuel?

After first couple of visits I can report the facilities are quote good, pontoons and catways brand new, showers first rate. The harbour is small, 125 berths, most of them taken by permanent berth holders, so calling in advance will be necessary in the summer months. There is a good bakery 250m from the harbour.
Apart from the pontoons there is no space in the harbour, so hoisting/dropping sail, preparing lines and fenders will have to be done outside the breakwaters.
Shelter is ok in moderatie weather, but I would not want to be there in a gale from N or NE. I would not recommend entering in big seas and onshore winds of 6 Bft and more. In these conditions Zeebrugge or Breskens are much to be preferred.

I sailed past it recently. Looks horribly exposed to the NE, surge would roll straight in. I guess that's what they mean by a 'swell harbour' :)

Yes, from the first pontoons you can see right through the entrance, which is nice as you see all the big ships passing. But on a bad day the swell will come in. Fortunately gales from the NE are rare and the fetch is limited by the island of Walcheren

Ducked into Cadzand tonight on a whim rather than Breskens as we're heading up the coast tomorrow. Risky, I thought as there’s a NE wind. Ignored the first pontoons in the entrance and pushed deeper into the marina where we found a hammerhead well out of the swell. Perfectly quiet and no discernible movement...

That was quick! Didn't I see you ashore only a few days ago?

Crossed on Thurs to Nieuwport. Sailed up the coast today. More than 100 yachts off the town : many racing. Fab sight.
