New guys

Anything from the Freeman range would be good. Personally I prefer the slightly more modern designs of the 24 and 27 but the 22, 23 and 26 do have a certain 'classic' look to them.

If you are having four onboard regularly, I would definitely look towards the 26/27 end, as the smaller ones will feel a bit cosy.

This one: https://www.boatshop24.co.uk/cabin-cruiser/freeman-27/200610 looks like good value.

My tip would be to buy diesel shaft drive, unless you end up with something outboard powered. Then a small modern four stroke outboard will be fine. Avoid old two-stroke outboards, petrol inboards and, for the age of boat you are looking at and its use, I would suggest avoiding outdrives. (oldgit will love that one, as I am an outdrive promoter normally)

Thanks so much for your help everyone. That's given us more to think about :)
there is a marina at Lechlade by the RIverside pub. I've tried googling for info but so far not been successful any ideas ?
It's called Riverside Marina and is a dump. More like a scrap yard...
It has been/ is for sale and ripe for development but may offer you something in the short term?
Cotswold Boat Hire at the Trout at at Lechlade has moorings downstream at Buscot but I know he has a waiting list.
Anchor boat club near Buscot/Kelmscot has moorings for members but looks full.

Sometimes, in some sections of the market, outdrives is all you are going to get.
Unless you are one of a well heeled few, the budget will limit any choice of propulsion.
The real problem is searching out boat where prior owners have spent proper money servicing the outdrives.
Suspect that not few boats end up on the market due to owners getting fed up with inherited problems simply caused by lack of ongoing care.
The new owner then gets to "enjoy" sorting the problems,or promptly sells the boat on.
