New Fairline Targa 43 Open

The new 43 was for me a disappointment. I was expecting a relatively sleek design similar to the renderings that have been put out for the press and us to see. What we got was a very tall and short boat that looked squashed with very high topsides that looked out of all proportion to the length. The bathing platform looked a long way from the water too, maybe you need a ladder to get into the water. I expect it was very spacious onboard but I didn't make the effort as to me if I own a boat I have to half like the look of it.
What is it with modern designs these days, there's no style left, it's all like a block of flats for the smaller boats as they try to squeeze in the most space. The T48 next to it looked better with lower topsides and a longer hull length which helped a lot.
So, from my rant you can see that it wasn't my boat of the show.

I just commented the price on the ‘Cannes’ thread. Unless I read the price list wrong, the demo boat with 180k£ worth of extras and VAT was closer to 1£m...

That boat looks very tall in the photo. 650,000 is way over priced.

Especially if they want to compete with the Atlantis 43 who is selling bucket loads of them, what still does not look cheap to me at about 500k EUROS vat included.

All these new boat prices look way off, considering the difference between the still relatively cheap used boat prices around.
I think brokerage season will be very good in the fall.

All of the 48ish foot boats I looked at were similar price, I actually thought the Windy 46 was the best option and the only one with 3 cabins.

Why do all the other manufacturers seem to want to put 2 large cabins instead of 3 reasonable size as for a family 3 makes more sense.

What is the silver grey boat to the port side of the 43?

I agree it looks too high in the water ... maybe it was almost totally empty on fuel, water and black tank if they had been providing joy rides for prospective buyers, but I suspect not. I'm also scatching my head wondering how I could spend £180k on extras for a 43 ft boat. And don't get me going on those glued in hull windows which your fenders will keep banging against all night.

Bear in mind there were a group of us on a 53 at duseldorf last year.

The retractable sun blind was as I recall £25,000 presumably plus vat.

Add a hi lo. Upgrade engines. Nav kit. Air con. Generator etc I am sure it can get there but £1m on a 43 ft boat is daft.

The 53 was about 1.2m which I though equally hi

Hi jrudge, I appreciate how extras can mount up alarmingly, esp stuff like a hi-lo, hard top, changing colour underwater lights that sync to music etc, but if I get you correctly, are you saying the £650k is for what buyers of certain German cars used to call the 'poverty spec' model? Surely the basic price would at least include navgear and a genny as a minimum on a 43 footer?

The actual boat at the show with the extras was £645k.
The new boat designs are definitely taller and more box looking, still can’t beat the original 43, IMHO

Honestly no idea. I was just suggesting ways to burn £180k! I do remember when bmw gave you no radio. They were basic!

That's a very sensible expectation, but is there still a good enough offer, in your opinion?
I'm wondering this because I didn't bother unsubscribing from the used boats websites which I started to check when I began my search, and occasionally I have a look at the automatic newsletters which they still send to my mailbox.
The impression is that most of the advertised boats, at least in the type/size bracket I was considering (55 to 60 feet flybridges), are still pretty much the same which were already on the market two years ago, and having seen most of them in flesh I can see why! :ambivalence:

New boat options are crazy.
Picked up the price list for a 44 something Power boat.

€480k ish for basic boat with their top options pack (which is pretty essential)
Lots of options seems very overpriced:

8kva genset: €22,000
Ac (individual units) for 3 cabins: €14,000
Ac (individual units) for saloon: €13,000
Highlo platform: €40,000
Garmin nav: €22,000
Teak cockpit: €19,000

I’m pretty sure all of the above could be retro fitted fir less than half the factory price.
Perhaps not the hi/lo by afaik Bart’s custom Jon for the Canadis was a little over half that figure.
