Came back at the w/e with new engine running smoothly. Does seem to get a bit warm tho in the engine compartment. A blower was previously fitted but not in use now. Has anyone any experience/advice re. whether one would be necessary? Water's pumping out fine from the exhaust etc..

I always run the blower and I find it makes a big difference in the engine bay.I believe it helps control the engine temperature but not having a gauge I'm not sure.

My recent Beta 35hp runs at normal temp at 2000 revs ... run it at 2500 and up the temp stays pretty much the same but I get a very 'hot' smell so drop the revs again. Don't know what's getting so hot it gives off a burning smell.

Never sure about blowers on yachts, a 2L engine is using about 4cu/m of air per min all of which is normally draw through the engine space so you are looking at more tan one complete change of air every min in most compact instalations. So whats the blower going to do?
