Hi - I'm edging my way towards a new engine for my 28ft Twister. Just seeking recommendations for a good yard to get this done... I'm moored in the Pyefleet at the moment.
Thanks,
Crisp

Have you decided on a make/model of engine yet? That may determine which yard to go to, depending on the engine dealer's location. I think it's always worth getting the dealer to install a new engine, as it then avoids any later arguments about whether it was properly installed! For example, I think you have a Volvo Penta engine at the moment, and if you chose another one then Volspec have bases at Tollesbury and Woolverstone, or French Marine have bases at Brightlingsea and Levington.

Replacing a Volvo Penta with another Volvo Penta may simplify some of the installation work. Alternatively, people like Beta Marine can supply engines with custom mounts to fit the existing mounting positions.

Don't assume a Volvo replaced with a VOlvo means less installation. A mate who had a lovely Sadler 34 had his engine replaced with that logic, but the wiring and exhaust were on opposite sides from the older gen engine (equivalent model from the current range) and Volspec couldn't have cared less.

As ever, it all depends on what the old and new engines were. Volvo Penta do have well-established re-powering options, as it's obviously in their interests to make it as easy as possible to stay with the brand.
