Hi, and welcome to new MBY headed by the ex-editor of MBM. It’s go here eh?

We know our readership here, so first off we'll be plunging headlong into a full-frontal steamy review - of kettles. Big sexy kettles, small kettles, and er medium-sized kettles - all shapes and sizes come under our microscope this month in a massive Mid-range Kettle Group Test. And what goes better with kettles than – a cup of tea? Our roving reporters have been sniffing and snorting through twenty seven leading brands of tea to bring you the ultimate teatime showdown. Finally, to complete the picture we’ll have the latest results of our long-term shortbread test –with surprising results for biscuit afficiandos across the UK and in the sundrenched med where everyone seems partial to an afternoon nibble. Phwoarr!

Next month – in depth review of how the paper doilie industry is adapting itself for the wired up 21st century with the latest designs from Genoa. All aboard!

Any chance of a free CD featuring some boy band which was vaguely popular with ten year olds in the 1980s,but everyone now knows was derivative crap. The rest of the CD can also be padded out with rubbish versions of well known artists songs but all recorded ages before they became mildly well known and loathed by all. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Ah, but don't forget that the kettle manufacturers marketing departments are, generally, completely rubbish and will only have last years models available for testing (even though the public have been able to buy this year's wizzy new turbo-steam models for six months). And of those, only 40% of the products will actually be sent with a power lead.

And let's not forget that we're dealing with boating journos here, so actual hands-on kettle-boiling experience will be severely limited...best to get in a couple of "experts" to assist with testing and fudge over the fact that two of the kettles didn't work, two were discontinued models, and one was a Photoshop composite that never turned up (but which is now making great tea in the Post Room).

as a suggestion for upcoming tests, how about a review of the current crop of popular editors? Handling, power, after-sales support. trim tabs or thrusters? Do they run on (beer)diesel on petrol(g+t) etc etc.
Maybe lets keep the photo boat some distance away if we re going to get full page glossies of them romping through the solent chop. Cheap and cheerful or top marque going to get the vote?
