I'm fairly used to marine prices but this one is remarkable; £51 including carriage and VAT for a new search light bulb from Jabsco. Its a 135SL unit - any suggestions on where to get one at a less outlandish price?
To be fair it is a sealed beam unit rather than the hoped for car headlight bulb - but is it just a car fog lamp?

If you heat the whole unit up in the oven to approx 160c the adhesive on the front lens softens. Its then possible to remove the front lens and cut out the existing bulb and replace with a £2 50w 12v halogen g4 bulb. Connect it using the small electrical connectors with the screw thread( cant remember what they are called ) Re glue the front lens with some pu40 adhesive. Sounds long winded but took me about 20 mins and had the satisfaction of not being ripped off for what is essentially a £5 fog light

My last boat had a Vetus for which they wanted something ridiculous like £120. However, the bulb unit was actually an aircraft landing sealed beam unit, I tracked the type number on a GE website then found a theatrical props firm that supplied them for stage flood lights, was about £15.

Still get emails occasionally touting more, but can't remember what they are called at the moment - its an age thing !

After a little digging around it seems that the Jabsco 135 uses a GE bulb with part number H9405, which seem to sell for around $17 in the US, although I'm not sure where you can order one in the UK.
