New build Princess F55 flybridge

I don’t think we will be making the trip on Friday. Current thinking is Sunday morning but it will depend on the weather.

Better to be on dry land wishing you were at sea rather than the other way round…..
I remember our delivery trip from Plymouth to Swanwick.
Weather was OK but we picked up a pot at the Bill and had to go into Weymouth.
PMYS were on the case very quickly and had a diver waiting on the quay at Weymouth so we still made it to Swanwick that afternoon.

Sunday's forecast looks more favourable and I'm guessing @Hurricane you took the inside passage past Portland Bill? Could be a good photo opportunity 🙂
Yep - but, like Henry, I wasn't in charge!!

Just done a search
This is a write up on our delivery trip - same start and finish as Henry's one will be.
March 2008 - doesn't time fly!!

I imagine Princess will have someone going along in front to clear away anything which might get in the way or mark my new hull….

I enjoyed reading that 👍

We will be setting off from Turnchapel where Argo / PMYS have their PDI centre. We’ve gone for factory fit electronics so not much extra for them to do, I just got a carpet overlay for the walnut flooring in the lower saloon / galley area.

I’ve put off the actual delivery up to now in my mind but now she exists and is paid for I’m excited to take delivery. We’ve already got some charters booked and I’m being asked for photos so we’ll have a few shake down runs in the Solent whilst the coding is being done to get pictures and so on for the website.

In the process of sorting out insurance for the new boat. Because of it's value we've moved up a level and now have a foot in two camps. We're either the biggest boat in one camp or the smallest in another which comes with some new considerations. It's the first policy which specifically lists wine and artwork on board. Apparently half a case of Hardy's chardonnay and my poster of the tennis player scratching her bum won't need listing individually :)

Insurance
Maybe give Curtis Marine a call - mention YBW Forums (and maybe me) to get a discount on any premiums.
But they usually apply any discounts automatically anyway - especially for the larger boats.
They are a broker so offer several underwriters/policies
Have fun reading the small print wherever you go!!

The commercial charter use puts some people off at this value but I think we've found people who are experienced and comfortable and price wise its what I was expecting. for a while it looked a little bit more expensive than I was anticipating but being the smaller fish in a larger sea helps as opposed to the other way round.

There is talk of leaving Plymouth around 2.00pm Sunday.

Not set in stone yet, just a quick phone call this afternoon. I don't know if the skipper will be close in to the Bill or further out to sea. I'm not getting involved in the passage plan, just behaving myself and doing as I'm told.

Why change a lifetimes habit?

Lyme Bay should make for a nice shakedown tomorrow with the breeze forecast to reduce but a decent fetch. Stay safe.
