New boat

Have used my bow thruster once in the 6 years I have had the boat. Always check it works before I leave just in case.

Last IPS service (IPS650) was €3500. Service in Mallorca.

VAT - even a new boat around £1m I would not pay VAT. Every 18 months to Algiers for around £10k (inc fuel). Just pay someone else to do it :) Might pay it after 5 years or so depending on price.

Indeed. A Brexit dividend for UK residents who boat in the Med.

Looks a lovely boat, well done again.
Will look so much better once the water turns up. I assume you’ve paid for that too ?

Er yes?? Why….
Hull looks very flat , and not a great deal of sharp fore foot either .Some IPs cross compensate the low deadrise by a sharper sections from station 5 the midline ( blue tripod prop in the pic ) to the bow .
From the pic it only sharpens from the tripod @ station 8 .

Go to 54 to see exactly how flat it is from the inside at the stern where the pods fit through .

Cant find any running reviews .But it’s in waves and chop that maters imho .

It looks like a possible slammer thus far .

Jesus Porto…..not all boats have to be 26 degree dead rise.

Time for a change of tune

Looks a stunner to me thus far @jcwads ?
What tune ?
It what i see , where I start .
Hull first then machinery second .Any thing that’s particularly odd about that ? What did you see first from the pic posted ? Just curious. I can’t be the only one on a mobo forum with a passing interest in hull form / seakeeping ?

It’s a motor boat boat after all . This one’s got a sexy Grand Tourismo title suggesting longer GT trips , what I am I missing .

Appreciate some start at the mid cabin , fridge , prawn griddle and never realise anything about the hull form , or machinery.

Its a pretty boat , looks great at the dock no doubt about it .Fab interior etc etc, but the 7-8 yrs old IPS could be a money pit and as I said Antibes gets choppy ….a lot .

Funnily enough Porto , as J keeps his boat in SOF he probably has a good idea what the weather is like , and i know it will be hard to believe but not everyone buys a boat because of its deadrise angles and that it has MAN engines ?
I know ^^^ .
T 40 had a good seakeeping rep ….old school .

Edit to back up ^ statement for the disbelievers on here .
Here read all about it Fairline Targa 40

One would assume that by 2015, Fairline’s naval architects were working with an accomplished enough hull designer who would have the knowledge of what was needed for their hull to work with the IPS drives in the given conditions the boat was intended. That said, of course seas change fast and then the design and one’s mettle gets tested but there are afaik, no associated horror stories surrounding the boat of the OP’s choice here.
So, i suppose then it comes down to opinions, which of course vary and folk are entirely entitled to their own but as grown ups, surely we have no need to piss on someone else's bonfire, even if ones belief is different, when instead we could be happy for them and the fact they are sharing content with the forum and us all.

Just sayin

Indeed and agreed.

I’ve not known a new boat thread to be this “bunty“. (Use imagination there).

Anyhow, this has firmed up my previous thoughts that this has become a place of strong (interpret how you wish) opinion rather than good chat. I did try to dive back in and give it another shot.

I’m bowing out, not worth the hassle.

To those I know, I will KIT via other means but I am done. Chow.

More than happy for the OP .Talk all day about his Nice boat .

Your first para .…” one would assume ……”
Go to 1.08; See the permanent huge flap fixed in down ward position between the Hilo apparatus.
What does that tell you …..any one ?
There’s no opinions here BTW it’s basic hull design stuff .

It so boring Porto. Give it a rest. I’d take that over 3 itamas any day of the week.
