New Boat

A fun mod one day would be to fit a bigger transom window
You should be married to my SWMBO. Thats exactly what she wanted:) The gadget looks like a paper Navtex but may be wrong

Thanks for the comments.

The breakfast bar version is an acquired taste but it is a fantastic place to sit with a coffee or a beer and while away an hour or two watching the world go by. We prefferred it to the dinette version but it has to be said that it doesnt provide the same flexibility with an extra berth. Not sure SWMBO would go for the pumps and optics Mark but I know what you mean!

She hasn't got the clever folding hood Deleted User as she doesn't have a conventional radar arch as it is more of a mast. It put us off at first but having sussed some possible mods to the canopy we decided that we liked it after all! I think overall we like something that is a bit diferent and the MK1 Broom 41 is just that as they only built about 4 or 5.The other deciding factor for us was the teak interior as we pfer it to the mahogany. You are correct about the gadget, it is a paper weather fax. We will need to remove it but need to do something creative to avoid the hole it will leave looking a bit of a mess.

Hadn't thought about a biggger transom window but it would certainly transform the light in the aft cabin. Not sure how it would work with the bed headboard though.

jfm - not sure what we will do re a tender yet. She had davits at some point and the bases are all there so just a bolt on job. We have a Honwave that we had on snap davits on the last boat so that may be the immediate solution. May eventually go for the davits and rib with centre console. Know what you mean about the sofa....I wasn't sure at first but it has grown on me.

The aft cabin layout is brilliant as it give masses of accommodation space and twenty odd feet between us and the kids or guests. The absence of a dinette also means that the galley is biger and the forward heads and shower positivley huge. The other benefit of the 41 is that the cockpit is full width so we also have sports cruiser type cockpit space.

Lovely boat Greg, I quite often end up looking at Brooms when dreaming of future boats for cruising in this country, love the aft cabin layout and size of saloon. Good luck with her.
