As part of this search, and with the utmost respect to all those erudite and knowledgeable (respectful crawl) old salts I know are frequenters of this forum -

.....anyway, having searched all references to all the boats I am looking at, listened to all the new posts re new boat for Ireland, med, kids, daughters, etc - codgitated, ruminated and so on and have decided on...

Any experiences with a Fairline 43 AC?

Looks a bit ugly to me, but practical in a retro sort of way - but high cockpit and looks a bit crammed, and so few about....

So what do you think? C/f an F43?

There have been posts on this boat before so try a search

For fairline it was a disaster, it was regarded as v expensive and they sold only a few. Turbo36 owners didn't trade up to it. 2nd hand market is thin, they dont sell fast, some that you see for sale have been up for over a year.

That said, at the right price it's a good boat imho. But you need to get the price right down, make a serious low ball offer, becuase you will likely have to take a similar haircut when you come to sell it

The engines are usually 63Ps, which are low revving solid jobs, absolutely no trouble there.

Cannot make a comparison with F43, I'm not a major Sealine fan. Despite the ugliness of the Fairline43 ac I prefer the Fairline detail and finish to the sealine blobbiness, especially if you're talking about a sealine that is 4 or 5 yrs old, when the blobbiness and pale blue/cream type furnishings etc were more in evidence than in the latest Sealines

Thanks...

Hate losing money on anything - so the less the better. F43AC is not cheap, but just seemed practical. Heard a lot of F43's were made, were good value, and became the choice of the AC trade-uppers..

Profile says you own a Fairline so you may be one of the sages I need to tap. Hard choices ahead, but have been offerd newish Targa 43, which we (SHMBO) and kids like, a newish top condition F43, and a very nice P40, which is a bit tight but well put together. So what would you pay for the T43, low spec, top wack?

Found the thread, 43AC, not 43 AC.. sensitive search. All questions answered, gone off the idea quickly, especially since the damp falls & rises in the aft cabin.

Back to forum, back to Targa's, back to point bloody blank....

When I asked about the 43AC a couple of months ago, TCM had some interesting words to say about it! There was refrences to Porchester Brick yard being better looking e.t.c
That said, I thought that it was a nice boat, but too expensive!

Its all this trading up that confuses the issue - I'm trying to enter at a level that precludes the trading up expense so soon after...Fairline 52 is a stunningly beautiful boat, probably IMHO the best looking by far in the 45'+ arena.

But the T43 I was offered is such good value. It's choice time, but SHMBO is so sensitive to wasted money and I have never, ever agonised so much about anything....

It's like buying houses. Some people need something bigger. Some pople trade up because they've become richer. You want to be in the latter category. Targa 43 is a cracking boat. Roomy accomodation, with good looks that are unlikely to date badly. Also great fun if you stick a Jetski in the back. Go for it!
