New boat - with pictures!

Re: Getting it home

She looks fab, and at that price plus transport plus a random amount to make her 100%, you're still quids in, bigtime.

Those KAD43's will power her to what, 38kts ?

Re: Getting it home

Yep, paid for until September. The blokes new boat is a blue water saily thing that is off in some other part of greece and is too long to fit. Bloody lovely marina too, nice and clean with good staff, facilities and....charter flights you say...hmmmmm

Re: Getting it home

I dont know, the broker reckond 34knts - I dont know what power the 43's have. She is quite a heavy boat at 5700kg. 34-35knts is still fast enough! I'll have to go out and run her along side FP2, get some pics of your new toy.

Re: Getting it home

5700kgs is 100kgs lighter than an S34, and Sealine reckon 33-35 kts with KAD43's, so maybe 35kts is a reasonable target with clean props&hull, 1/2 fuel, 1/2 water etc: also Bavaria hull should be a bit more "hi performance" than an S34...

FP2 still on the hardstanding, but getting there. Some King-Kong gorilla had done up the outdrive dipsticks using all limbs: finally a 4-ft torque wrench with a 14mill flat bladed driver got them undone, with much cursing.

Electronics package goes on in the next 2-3 weeks. A bit of minor fibreglassing, some signwriting, seal the stanchion posts, and Martha's your Auntie, we have a boat.

Looks lovely, congratulations, hope the survey goes well.

Now that all the secrecy has gone, and you've clinched a great deal on 33' boat, Tell us how did you come about finding her?

All the best with her,

Al.

Excellent! - really pleased that all your homework seems to have paid off. We did a similar thing, but much closer to home (Holland) with a private sale that seemed too cheap to be true - But it was all ok & hugely cheaper than similar boats in nl, never mind the thames.

Just some heating now - for next winter?

Jez,

She looks Gorgeous! Leave her in Greece and save the UK mooring fee and use it to pay for flights out there. In that way you get a season in the med for free! If you ship her back in Early September you can also use her all through the colder months here. She looks a cracker with great Spec...

What gave you the Idea of a Bavaria. I looked at the two at Essex but like you wanted twin cabins. I will be very interested to know what you are paying for her.....(cheaky i know)

Hope all goes well with the Survey,

Paul

If I'm honest, RogerRat has the same boat which I been out on several times. The 330 (and later 34) has a comparible spec to a T34/T37, with good forward cabin + ensuite heads, nice big mid cabin and good saloon.

Bored one Saturday I was flicking around on the web looking at boats (feeling a bit frustrated that mine was not ready) and decided to do a broad search to see what a budget would buy - just for laughs. Up popped the 330, and at the price I assumed she was a petrol engined boat. Had a look and the spec was diesel, rang the dealer in Germany and confirmed KAD43's - had to go and have a look.

The rest as they say is history. I found out from Ancasta that only 3 were sold in the UK, so with this being the 4th they are a rare boat, and one I think I will keep for some time.

I wont say the price /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif but it was a good deal, and less than 70k including shipping.

Looks very nice. I am sure you will have a lovely time on her. Must admit I would be tempted to keep her out there for this year and then bring her back over winter time (but I know its difficult as you probably want to get started on doing some work on her asap!)

Looks a fantastic deal and boat - have fun.

I have to admit to favoring enjoying the boat over there in spring and having her shipped in June for the summer over here - as she will get washed off for shipping you get an effective mid season scrub thrown in !

Excellent. She looks great. The sensible thing would be to keep her in the Med over the summer but I would do the same as you and bring her home asap. First off, its a new toy and you want to play, I'd be the same
Second has she got aircon? I would'nt want to spend a Med summer without it. The other issue is what if she needs service or repair work done; arranging that from the UK will be a hassle and the last issue is guardiennage. I dont know what the marina is like in Kos but will the staff there check lines and fenders regularly or will you have to pay somebody to do that
The seafreight cost you've been quoted sounds more than reasonable. If thats deck cargo though, the boat might need a protective wrapping

That is a truly amazing deal, well done! At that price you realy could not say no. I have found another for sale at Euro 130k.......£95k. You got a great deal. Hope she gives you many years of pleasure,

I am V. jealous! (in a nice way)

I bought my new boat last October and have only seen it twice since and taken her out once. I'm still glad she's in Majorca though Mike. I can't wait for the season to kick in - next visit March /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

That said the boat is somewhere I know, being looked after by someone I trust. If it was somewhere I didn't know I would probably want to move her to a place I was more comfortable with.

A free berth in Greece and a Summers boating in the sunshine just for the price of the air tickets, I would have to think about it. Before making a decision I think I would get out there for an extended period of time (a week at least) to get a feel for the place and suss out local boatowners / engineers etc. Good excuse to be on the boat as well /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This months MBY (or should it be Cumberlidge Monthly) has a taster of Eastern Med boating. Surely got to think about it. FREE BERTH, that appeals to this Yorkshireman :-)

Fantastic looking boat, well done! I think I may need to employ you to search around for me when the time is right to move bigger /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
