We are about to jump back into the boating game after 8 months out (!) I have a nice sheltered berth (I pontoon facing the chop) reserved at Gosport but it is a lot of cash! Haslar is full so I am asking if others here are happy at Gosport?!

We will sleep aboard a fair bit and I imagine that some berths can get quite ‘rolly.’ I have considered Royal Clarence as it is also £1500 cheaper!!

More info to follow once the survey is completed but one clue is that she is an aft cabin boat.

Been at clarence for a few years. Very happy, very sheltered. Just been taken over by Aquavista an inland waterway operator so not sure what that will bring in terms of pricing. Usually full with a waiting list according to the management. Forget any old threads you might read. The clipper fleet aren’t there any more and the facilities are very good and directly opposite the dock head.

Thanks very much. Sounds like I won’t get a berth for a while at RC having now spoken to them. The Clipper guys are at the other end of Gosport but I don’t see that being a problem.
We are looking forward to enjoying the quick Solent access having been at the very top of the Hamble for the past few years. It is an extravagance but life is short and time on the boat is precious!
Survey tomorrow. ?

My lips are sealed.

We have been at Haslar many years - new toilet block this year- had you thought of seeing if any berths for just over winter which might make it easier to be admitted to full Berth status next year? I don’t really know royal Clarence but it’s ashore dining facilities are better. Those at Gosport marina poor since a certain gentleman from Emsworth took over and sadly currently at Haslar non existent since Maria went back to lanzorotte for some sailing?chap. I think Haslar might improve once the new restaurant is open but there seems a shortage of chefs in Gosport ,maybe they all want to work in gunwharf?

Thanks I got very short response from Haslar say no berths in any circumstances. A shame as I have been with them before and always found their customer service good.
Re boat.. keep guessing as none of these. ? Will reveal all on Friday hopefully.

I see the lightship is leaving Haslar for repairs later this year with new pontoons being added per the QHM notice but the problem they have is berths for the larger motorboat I think -that said we have a Trader on our pontoon and a. Broom 420 next door but you would really want a berth on H pontoon I guess or a hammerhead even. Hopefully not a Sealine 43 though.

Not a Sealine 43. Done that.

We would only go to Haslar if we could be on A,BC pontoon as the wash from the pilot boat used to send everything flying!

Not too big for Deacons or Foulkes just fed up with the Hamble Scramble and having to time the bridge. We will probably go back there in time when we can go boating in the week.

Pilot boats seem to have moved on recently at haslar . We have no problems with their wash though and not on letters mentioned, but C pontoon favoured by many longer term boaters.
