I was wondering about that last year when I looked around Marie's Yard near Nidri. It cannot expand because of the church beside it and the main road behind it. Therefore boats are squashed in like sardines in a tin. It appeared that first one hauled had to be the last one launched. Sledge slipway for all boats.

Marie's yard has used an hydraulic lift for the last two/three years and are rather adept at moving boats around to get boats in the water earlier than they originally planned. This is assisted by the fact that the first twenty or so boats in the water are the Sail Ionian Charter Company. The yard has in fact expanded using land a couple of hundred metres to the North East of the Church.
