New Boat Discounts in Spain

Hi all

Was mooching round Alicante marina at the weekend and one of the brokers is knocking out new boats at upto 50% off list (apparantly) - eg brand new Prinz 54 Coupe for 480k euros... even with the dodgy exchange rate at the moment, thought it looked cheap. Will we start seeing similar discounts on UK boats this year??

Prinz 54 at EUR480k is nothing like 50% off. I haven't seen Prinz's latest pricing, but that's more than the list price a couple of years back. It's really a 50' boat, with a big bathing platform.

I think this has more to do with Prinz being a new name in the market. Unfortunately, now is the worst possible time to try to get into the boat market. Nevertheless, I have heard of well known Brit and Italian boats being available at 30-40% discounts off current list but only for stock boats burning expensive holes in dealer's bank accounts. Another factor to take account of is the age of the new boat. If a dealer has a new stock boat which has maybe been in his stock for 1-2yrs, then he probably bought that boat at 2 yr old prices so whilst it may be 30-40% off current list, it's probably only 20-30% off the pricelist pertaining at the time that the dealer bought it. He may also have bought it when the exchange rate was much more favourable too. So, it's not easy to generalise about discounts but it's certainly true to say that now is a great time to buy a new boat, particularly if you are happy to negotiate on a stock new boat

The Prinz got a pretty cool reception from MBM (?) when it was tested. Not a very deep V, causing a very bumpy ride.
