New boat day.

I don’t know how I missed this thread?‍♂️
A (belated) congratulations from me ?? she looks like a beautiful boat, Scala

ps. Those Welsh Med boys keep me in stitches as well, even though I can’t understand half of what they write?

We wanted the is it the R400 fly, it would have been magic for us withe wheel chairs , but out of budget . You need to change your name to scala bav. PS what is scala , don’t tell me scarlet pimpernel.

That and its R40 Coupe sibling are very good. But expensive. Great mid cabin.

Anyways - the name was made up by me... I needed a few rules. 1. No more than five letters. 2. Had to be two syllables. 3. No boat on the UK Part 1 with that name. 4. No obvious commercial connections.

Since then, only 4 years ago, Simon Mayo has launched Scala Radio. Skoda has launched a model of car called the Scala. And Scala has become a fairly popular development / programming language.

Oh well.

You should have stuck with Scarface

Cunning Plan worked then!
Boat is subject to Survey Thursday
Broker is checking out if We can jump on at said 'Quarantine ' berth and leg out from there.
Next week with luck
Vessel was serviced recently
Will be jet washed (the bum etc) whilst lifted for Survey
Thats the Plan so far!

Thanks for info Mr S on range -I know the Sunseeker boys run from Poole down to CI to register there and run back but I thought they used rather more but I guess it depends how you drive them when new. I see there is a Bav 40 up at Windsor for sale so might be another destination to consider which is rather closed to those with a keel etc.

Hi there, yes my range is guesswork at the moment based on yesterday's trials, the boat has a display that can show fuel burn per hour (per engine and total) and we were using about 90LPH total at 28kts. 750L tank. So allowing for c. 20% margin that would give me about 200 miles at that speed which might just about be OK for a return trip but I'd prefer not to risk it. A modest new Sunseeker will be burning 2x - 3x that probably. But with a bigger tank too.

Roger Wilco etc!!
Sorry Scala, not trying to nick your thread or limelight!
Talking about Limelight
Scala was the name of the local cinema when I was a kid
Won't tell you what we called it
But the Name will stick forever now. It has brought back some memories, Ill tell thee:)

For obvious reasons I have been working out fuel consumption and range for the Nimbus in Guernsey
What is always a kinda common denominator/average/ usuable range on lets say
'An average sized pleasure mobo' is roughly 200 NM
To be honest as well. 7 hours at 25/30 kts is enough for most peeps
OK, I have done 13/14 hour stretches when Delivering boats in the past
8 hours max now and I have had enough!!
High speed Nav in a busy channel takes a little concentration
Its not just point and shoot as Some peeps think:D

Exactly, to get a good wake to rock passing boats one has to understand wake vectors and how that vector changes with speed or your wake wont them exactly parallel for maximum effect. It takes a lot of practise to perfect the art and it would have taken me a lot longer to buzz Roy effectively were it not for your help ? (y)

Hi Rich, sorry Scala for yet another fred rift

According to my Navionics track on my phone, we averaged 12.4 knots fro St Peter Port to East Cowes and it took us 8 hours. From memory we used about 220 litres of fuel, but, even though we had a lift and scrub just before setting off from Weymouth, the stergear was in a poor state. Also when we left the Alderney Race I should have let the tide take me East as when we were in the Channel the tide was heading West for the whole crossing which effectively meant I was punching tide all the way.
Keep us updated, I'd like to tag along :). (Maybe a forum cruise?)

Sounds like a very thirsty speed to me Col. Pushing a bit bow wave there I would have though.
