That's about 2 litres to the mile, bearing in mind the state of the prop and punching the tide is probably about right. Also the average speed takes into account the approach to Cowes, the River Medina where I was probably stationary while Helen got the fenders and lines ready and berthing in East Cowes. Navionics says my maximum was 26 knots which I think is wildly optimistic. I had no autopilot and the vis was poor so steered the whole way by compass or following the track on the chartplotter. Total distance (according to nav) was 99NM, I wonder how much an autopilot would have reduced that.
