We bought her yesterday but unbelievably we've been negotiating with the owner since January, twice walked away, the second time after the survey gave a list of defects. Then the owner came back with a very low sale price and we took the risk. She's more floating house than floating caravan - three bedrooms, 2 reception rooms, kitchen and two bathrooms
More importantly I think she's beautiful and can fit all of us in. She'll sail but not to windward and there is a humungous engine that will do the rest; though I'm almost certain we have to change it.
First items on the list are new sails and rigging - all 1977; new aft hatch, new plumbing, clean the diesel tanks and mostly rewire. Then we can set about cleaning and polishing. Lots to do but maybe we couldn't have afforded her otherwise - you pay with your money or your time. Hope we don't pay with both! Still, the whole family is chuffed to bits and planning mad adventures already
