New boat and new marina.... & pictures!

my first experience of boating was on a Hardy (not sure on which one tho) and i was hooked!! a friend took me out in less than perfect weather but his Hardy felt solid and planted throughout, and more than comfortable. fantastic boat and i hope she brings you plenty of pleasure and good times.

Thanks Mark! We were out again on it Saturday. I am still struggling to find her best cruising speed, as it just seems any speed she is happy...literally from 5knots to 20+ knots, but I must say at around 11knots it does remind me of a Land Rover in low ratio, in other words unstoppable!

I'm sure she can cruise anywhere between 5 and 20 as you say, but if you're looking for the best fuel efficient speed, I very much doubt that 11kts is the one. In theory, given the size of the boat, 7 or so should give the best (higher) MPG, followed by a "fast" cruising which should be well above 11. More likely 16-18. Just a guess though, I have no 1st hand experience on Hardys.

of course you are right, at 11 knots she's making a wake that a pro-wakeboarder would die for...and would get all the PWC making a beeline for me!!!

In fact around by 16 to 18knots she's obviously nicely up on the plane and will probably be around our cruise.. Thanks!

Always stay in love with her, and she will definately give you back more,

and remember as we say here in Greece... the best way to keep her in shape during winter is by cruising her

Only just seen this. Congratulations Firefly, she looks the business. Indeed she looks mint, so have you given up on restorations? You could do some v serious passages in her - radar has gotta be on your christmas list then you could do/go anywhere? Best of luck!

Very perceptive... indeed besotted..

The surveyor did recommend a layup of 2 months ashore as she has not been out the water for more than a couple of days in over 4 years. Time for a bit of drying out is needed.... so Jan and Feb she will come out... but apart from that I am very keen to keep using her throughout... she is nice and cosy with cabin heater on when she is on the move so even SWMBO was not cold for once!

Thanks jfm, she is very clean, no marks on the hull whatsoever, have spent a few hours with some degreaser round the engine and all the bilges so getting everything as I want!

Indeed she is built for some proper travels, already planning Easter trip to Dartmouth and West country!

She has Raymarine C80 chartplotter so would accept raymarine radar and no need to have separate screen... but spent all my money now.... so might be a sparse Christmas, certainly I will have to wait a bit for radar....

....and have I given up on restorations.??... not really... still want to build a Hydroplane.... but just finished restoring this... sorry, its not a boat, but just so you know that I always have something at home that needs fiddling with!!
