Well it has now been exactly 2 weeks since I took delivery of my new (to me) boat. Mentioned in another post it is a Hardy Mariner 26 (although MDL measurement is 8.2m ;-( !!) and my lovely Merry Fisher 625 is now up for sale at Ancasta Port Hamble. (Know anyone who wants the cleanest & best equipped 625 on the south coast?, PM me!)

I still cannot quite believe it, I am utterly delighted with the Hardy. Yes I have seen them from afar but until you start crawling over one it is hard to appreciate the quality of fit and finish. The boat is over 4 tonnes, and it feels it! All the fittings and the engine installation are A1. I love the attention to detail down to the Hardy owners files which are 3 large A4 folders, one is the boat's handbook detailing every single detail of the boat including plumbing and wiring diagrams full of colour pictures, plus another file with every single instruction book on non Hardy manufactured items & equipment fitted and another for the Yanmar engine and ZF gearbox.

It will touch 24 knots but very happy to cruise at anything from 10knots to 20knots and Soooo bloody comfortable! it drives through the rough stuff like butter..and with twin speed wipers and fresh water screen washes....I don't know myself!..The Yanmar 4LHA engine is just a peach, 230hp, (or I have been told 240hp from the flywheel), runs very well and a Vetus bowthruster makes close quarter handling nice and easy. Yes, I would be happy to be on commission for Hardy Marine, and easy sell.

Oh, and I have moved MDL marinas, from Hythe to Mercury. As I practically grew up at Mercury (since 1972) its like home from home and I can keep an eye on my ageing parents!

...oh and of course, some pics!

....just have to work out how to use the Raymarine C80 chartplotter now.... me thinks its too clever for the likes of little me!

Now that's a real boat and a real nice one. Hope they're not charging you for what looks like a 15 metre berth.

Oh with comments like that you can be my friend!!

....and yes, I have sneaked onto a bigger berth, they only had one 7m berth left which was at the start of B pontoon with the walkway to A pontoon cutting across it to make getting in or out near on impossible (well for me anyway! even with a bowthruster!!). But the team at Mercury are great and they agreed to put me on a bigger pontoon.... but it is quite possible within then next year or so I may be moved.... just a risk I will have to take. But it is so nice jumping onto a pontoon rather than a diving board!

Great choice, great boat. Had a Yanny 4hla motor in my last boat - great engine, just make sure your batt is always good, coz they are a heavy lump! 26ft and 4 tonnes - nice and planted. Our 27ft US sports boat was only 3.2! MDL did the same to me and measured from end to end and got 8.5m!! Take the Anchor off and save a bit...lol

Enjoy...

Congratulation! Nice looking boat. I had a guy from the south coast interested in my 625 but I'd sold it before he could get up to see it. I'm sure I still have his number somewhere, if you like I'll pass your details on to him. PM me with your and the boat details and how much you're after.

Thanks, will PM you the details tomorrow!!!

It is on with Ancasta, at £19950.... but will take an offer!

From one Hardy owner to another - Congratulations - a superb choice.

One thing I never got with my boat was the owners manuals; seems like I've missed out there. There's still a couple of things I've not figured out :o

I can confirm that they are solidly built boats with excellent hulls. We've been out in some nasty seas but she just bashes through.

Enjoy :D

Thanks AndieMac, shame its the end of the season.... but will keep going until the frosts start!

and thanks AdeOlly, I think once you have owned a hardy it will be hard to move away, unless to another very well built boat. I do think boats bilges tell you a lot about the construction of a boat, having spent some time cleaning the entire boat, including the bilges I am so impressed. Hope to see you on the Solent sometime.

Congratulations!

Great Boat, Great Marina and Great Adventures lie ahead. Having a decent seaworthy boat with a hard Top will make a big difference on the Solent as it allows you too play while others do not! I used my boat all winter on the solent as I could get a mooring everywhere.

Cheers

Paul

Thanks Paul, that is what I am hoping for!!

Congratulations and well done on both counts, really hope you enjoy your new craft and new marina. We are dead opposite you on B pontoon, and look forward to meeting you personally.

my first experience of boating was on a Hardy (not sure on which one tho) and i was hooked!! a friend took me out in less than perfect weather but his Hardy felt solid and planted throughout, and more than comfortable. fantastic boat and i hope she brings you plenty of pleasure and good times.
