are there any new people posting here?

we used to have lots of new posters here asking the same old questions about their boats.

i just wonder because the lounge needs some new blood over there.

we are all dying off and we need some young people to give us some us a new perspective on life in the fast lane.

if you get any, please point them in our direction.

we'll soon depress the life out of them.

I gave up with the Lounge years ago and asked the Mod Team to impose an exclusion zone. It has been extremely successful as I can look in wonder at the anchor and pyrotechnic threads on here.

i remember the old rocna thread as will you.

it was so funny with everyone getting hot under the collar.

i didn't get involved but read every post.

they were the good old days when it was ok to roast people in anyway you chose.

lots of roasting going on there.

I wonder if Craig is still a Dick? :D
He appears to sail with his father on some pretty heroic voyages. I assume he and Dad did the work that forms the basis for Vulcan and the updated Rocna. Dad, aka Peter, must be quite old now - I'm guessing late 70s or even 80s and Craig seems a natural to take over the business.

Most of us were young once - and impetuous (some never lose the gift).

I firmly believe the whole episode put Rocna 'on the map' - proving there is no such thing as bad advertising. Its one of the best known marine brands, everyone who knows the background knows exactly what a Rocna is - and people still buy them (long term Craig and the furore did them no harm - arguably the whole performance was positive). More recent entrants to the market, say anyone under 50, see Rocna's on bow rollers and buy them without question. Other new entrants do not match Rocna's success - even Vulcan is less accepted. Spade, on which Rocna appears based, is highly rated - but another also ran (partially as they don't have CMP's reach). Its sad - but how many Knox (excellent product) do you see on bow rollers - even in Scotland.

At the time it looked to be the death knell of Rocna - who would have predicted.

There is a lesson, or three, in there :)

As for the Lounge, I may have made 3 visits during my time with YBW - life is far too short. There are many other diversions. :). I could ramble on but I need to see if I can find an anchor thread.....
