Netbook security

Having just bought a netbook I need to get it protected. I would like to know if anyone has any likes or dislikes. Which one do I go for - I'm so confused

AVG Free
Ccleaner free
Smart Defrag free

Liking the word "free" - have tried to get AVG free but it tries to get you to buy stuff and I couldn't work it out!! Will try the others (I'm not very techy minded normally wait until some unsuspecting boater comes to visit but the season is not arriving quickly enough )
