Nest Hub in Portugal

Ok could be slightly boaty. I'm helping a friend who is trying to set up his Google Nest hub at the Algarve. But the setup app on his phone just goes around in circles when trying to connect to his router. Has anyone experience of this here, or is it just not supported In Portugal? Hub was bought in UK

It may not be relevant but I have a problem with Google's choice of home country for me. I wanted a Spanish Mobistar SIM but the Mobistar app was not available on Playstore. I asked Google about it and surprise they responded . Apparently they had decided that I lived in Belgium and so had no right to access to various Spanish apps.

Not exactly the same but we run a Google Home and an Echo dot here in Portugal no problems.

You may find that you have to take the device back to the UK and pre load all the apps/requirements for it to work.
Google 'zones ' you and knows where you are and will only download what is permitted in your zone, even a vpn wont get round this. Only devices working on old google ( not updated) will sometimes work with existing installation of apps.

No, both ours were bought in Uk and brought here and set up here in Portugal. Google nest hub is a new generation to mine so maybe as others have said, it needs to be set up initially in UK. Maybe UK bought and Portuguese bought have different setup requirements and can only be setup in country of purchase then taken to country of use maybe.
