Im on the lookout for a new boat, thats when ive sold mine.

Im always recieving details of boats, the run of the mill Princess and Fairlines, but today from Holland came details of Neptunus 141, looks really good acres of wood, aft cabin design which would suit us.

But im afraid I know little about this I presume Dutch builder, it all looks nice its POA so cant tell you how much, has twin 430hp volvos in which are not that good as there 72a motors, the hull at the stern looks quite flat, ie not much of a V at the stern, so id say its more of a semidisplacement boat which no doubt will be a fuel monster.

Also details of a nice Princess 420 with cherry wood that would suit me as its an evolution up from my Princess 410 but only 1 year newer in age.

Your comments on the Neptunus appreciated.

Hi Paul

Never having heard of a Neptunus 141 I immediately googled it. My first impression prior to doing so was a concern of ease of resale as no bugger would know what it was. But having looked at one, well I can see the appeal. As for Dutch build, well my folks boat is dutch, and is just superb....

BTW, literally just passed your number to a raggie friend of mine who has just purchased a Gibsea with a Volvo diesel which needs some tlc.

Paul, OK, so now explain this.... a new one available, but not built in Holland... but just look at the price...... is this good value.... I think so!

....but I do wonder what fit & finish is like. and seeing some pictures of various ones, some seems to have zero wood and very plastic inside... perhaps built for charter work?

The older variants like the 133 and 106 are popular on the Shannon. Good quality builds, and loads of wood inside. The Dutch don't do plastic inside boats.

I made the comment that I had seen one which looked very plastic inside.... sorry, that was my mistake, it was this boat, but viewing on my small laptop screen last night it looked like plastic, actually its very light/limed oak I guess? As you say, not plastic at all... I do prefer the dark wood versions though!

Yuk !! That is very light and very unpleasant, IMO.

Although I suspect it's not.
 
The yard hasn't gone bust. They are built by the yard that now make Elling motor boats - if you haven't been on an Elling you wont have seen just how well the yard built there boats.

I believe the yard stopped making sports boats and switched to a more traditional craft (the elling) as they felt the customer base was more in tune with their way of working
 
Hi All, thanks for the replies.

I did google Neptunus yachts, got an American website then thought were they bilt over the pond?

From the replies id go with the dutch thing, I did assume they were Dutch as the build quality looks good.

I do like the lines of it, this ones up with Ellberg yachting who have many nice boats on there website including a lot of UK built boats, but at not that favourable prices.

Think I will give it a miss, resale values and market spread etc will limit it as a future investment this side the North Sea.

Will stick with Uk boats for now on the wish list.
